Password protected QR codes
Put a password on a QR code so only people you share it with can open the link or details behind it. Free, with scan analytics included.
Start free →What you get
An unlock page first
Anyone who scans sees a clean page asking for the password. The real link stays hidden until they get it right.
Lock everyone out again
Change the password and everyone has to enter the new one. Or switch protection off at any time — the printed code never changes.
Remembered for 12 hours
Once unlocked, the code opens straight away on that phone for 12 hours. One cookie, used only for this.
Guessing is blocked
Wrong attempts are rate-limited per person and per code, so passwords can’t be brute-forced.
Stored safely
Passwords are hashed with scrypt. We never store or show them in plain text.
Works with 8 types
Websites, contact cards, WhatsApp, locations, phone calls, SMS, email and text. (Wi-Fi codes are static, so they can’t have a password.)

- 2

Choose a password of at least 4 characters.
- 3

Print the code and give the password only to those who should get in.
Questions, answered
How does a password protected QR code work?
The code opens a MisterQR unlock page. After the right password is entered, the person is sent to your link or shown your details. The password is checked on our server, so it can’t be read from the QR code.
Can I change or remove the password after printing?
Yes. Edit the code any time to set a new password (which locks out everyone who used the old one) or to turn protection off. The printed code stays the same.
Do people have to type the password every time?
No. After unlocking, the code opens directly on that device for 12 hours.
Can I see scans on a protected code?
Yes. Scan analytics work the same as on any other dynamic code.
Is it free?
Yes. Password protection is included free, with no credit card and no trial.
